Last week we got a chance to visit a working farm. We had lots of fun wandering around and seeing the animals. Iain found them a bit mystifying, but fascinating. We were very glad that we had our wellies, because it was very mucky!

There was a nice playground area with swings and things to climb on, and Iain got to "ride" this tractor.

Apparently there was an important poultry meeting on. We weren't quite sure what these birds were. There is one chicken under the table. Perhaps the others are pheasant or quail?

Brian made friends with this horse after he fed him an illicit apple. Before that, Mr. Horse was quite aloof and stayed in the corner.

It's too bad you can't see this chicken better, because they are the craziest lookinganimals I have ever seen. She has feathers protruding from the top of her head. You couldn't even see their eyes. I thought it looked their little heads had exploded!

Wonderful pictures. You sure do shine when next to your favorite guys!
I haven't been to a farm for years! The birds in the picture are peacocks (or peafowl, to be pedantic). The males have spectacular colourful tales; the females are more modest. They are beautiful, big and noisy!
Do you not have them in the States?
Anthony-- yeah, we have peacocks, but I guess I'm just not very good at identifying birds! Sheesh... Thanks for the info! This is why I leave the science to you :)
Brian and Jordan, I'm so tardy--I don't think I'd been to your blog since I got home. But I'm here now and it was fun to catch up and--oh my!--to see the video of Iain. I am missing you guys TERRIBLY the past few days. It kinda stinks being back in FtL without y'all here. I miss you so so so so so much. (That was a little childish, but comes closer than anything else to an honest expression.) Have a very wonderful 2007. And call me sometime! Hugs all 'round.
What a handsome couple!
I'll admit that I was actually pretty timid around that horse. Most other beasts don't trouble me much, but I'm not very comfortable with horses.
